I used to be a crockpot hater and never understood the hype with the crockpot. Now, I understand and the crockpot is my most used appliance. I’ve used it to make both savory and sweet dishes. Today’s blog is about all of the things I have made in my crockpot.
Disclaimer: This is not a blog where I’m sharing recipes. This is me sharing food photos. I have a YouTube channel where I attempt to cook and make different things. I just enjoy being in the kitchen and creating. I love watching food videos and I just mimic their processes. I know what I like to eat and I research what seasonings would be good for certain dishes and I also research cooking times and then I do my thing. I don’t measure anything and I cook everything to my taste. I will try to share as much as I can about what I’ve made. If you have other questions, please reach out.
Now onto the things I’ve made in my Crockpot!
I don’t have an oven currently but my oldest son wanted cake so I picked up these two box cake and brownie mixes to see if I could make it in the crockpot. Next time, I want to try and make a cake from scratch.
And this is how these two turned out using my crockpot. I have a video on my YouTube if you want to check it out.

For this particular cake, I didn’t have icing so I made a strawberry topping. I cooked strawberries, cinnamon, sugar and butter until it became a syrup. If I had whip cream, I would have used that as a frosting then poured the strawberries over that for a strawberry shortcake type of dessert. We all loved the way this cake turned out and was pleasantly surprised at the outcome.
Yes! I’ve even made pie in my crockpot. The first attempt was unsuccessful but the second attempt worked out perfectly. Use your favorite pie recipe and ready made crust and try to make a pie.
This was the first attempt! It was so pretty. So I decided to cook strawberries, blueberries, nutmeg, cinnamon and sugar for a filling. Make sure to spray your Crockpot or butter it so it doesn’t stick. I put the pie crust in the Crockpot and then added the filling. So, I added way too much and it turned out soupy. The filling was delicious and the crust cooked perfectly but it didn’t turn out like a pie at all.
Second Attempt! I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this but I’m an impatient cook at times. So we made the filling the exact same way but I skipped cooking it on the stove. I sprayed my pot, made sure to really stick my crust to the wall of my pot and added half the filling as last time. My youngest and I attempted to make shapes to put on top of the pie. I cooked the shapes in the skillet since the pie was almost done. I didn’t wait enough time for the shapes to cool so it fell apart. Next time, I will be patient and let it cool before adding it to the top of the pie. But this attempt we did get a pie and it was delicious!

One of my favorite things to cook in my Crockpot is a whole chicken. You can throw it in there in the morning and have it for dinner or let it cook overnight. And you can strain the juices left behind and have a tasty chicken broth for chicken soup.
This is a very easy dish to make in the Crockpot. The seasonings I used for my chicken was cumin, salt, paper, paprika, poultry seasonings, roasted garlic and herbs and onions. I stuffed the chicken with garlic and onions that I heated in the pan beforehand. You just throw it in and let it cook.

I have found that everyone cooks and cuts cabbage differently. You just have to play around with different recipes until you get it to taste the way you want and it has the right texture that you like. I like to use smoked meats like turkey necks or bacon in my cabbage. I typically season with black pepper, hot sauce, smoked paprika, paprika, onion or garlic depending on what I have. I don’t like my cabbage too crunchy but I don’t want it mushy either. I learned from watching a Paula Deen video to cook the outer part first then add in the inner part of the cabbage. This cabbage turned out perfectly for me.

I feel like this is a common dish that people make in the Crockpot. It’s very easy and you adjust the seasonings, meat and flavor based on your taste. I did brown my meat (ground beef and ground pork) before adding it to my pot.

I used the Grace Flavored Chicken Soup packet to make this soup. First I browned the leg quarter in a skillet. I added it to the Crockpot with water. I let that cook completely before adding the other ingredients. Then I added the chicken soup packet, squash and corn and I just let that cook for an additional thirty minutes and I had this soup with crackers. It was so good!
BARBECUE SHORT RIBS
I found these short ribs in my store and I used my Crockpot to make barbeque short ribs. I have this Fat Boys barbeque seasoning that I love.

My son loves these cinnamon rolls and we haven’t had them because we don’t have an oven. I decided to grab them and try to make them in my Crockpot. It worked out perfectly and I want to try to make these from scratch too.
